Gabi Emmerich is a Brazilian illustrator with a degree in Design who loves telling stories through images. As a timid child, she always used drawing to communicate and make friends—and she still does today. Her desk is always filled with pencils, paints, and colorful papers, and she loves exploring new techniques and playing with shapes. Much of what she creates digitally comes from these hands-on experiments. Lately, she has been diving deeper into creating her own stories and exploring children’s books and comics.
In her work, Gabi always seeks to celebrate diversity and uplift the LGBTQ+ community. She has contributed to projects like Narrativas Negras, a collective highlighting the incredible yet often overlooked stories of Black Brazilian women, and The Courage to Be Truly Free, a campaign against laws like Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act (the “Don’t Say Gay” bill), which seeks to silence young people exploring their identities.
In 2024, two illustrated projects received awards:
🏆 Odudua (short film) – Background illustration. Highlight at the Brazilian Graphic Design Biennial (ADG Biennial).
🏆 Lendas do Brasil Kit – Illustrations. Bronze Trophy at the 10th Bornancini Design Award 2024.

When not drawing, Gabi travels across Brazil, always seeking inspiration in nature. She loves gathering friends for board games and escaping to the beach to recharge. She lives in Curitiba with her wife, splitting time between plants, coffee breaks, and great stories—whether reading in a hammock or creating her own.
